Last week, JMWilliams Division Manager Beverly attended a week long continuing education conference led by FMI’s Construction Executive Institute. This intensive, interactive simulation allows teams to compete against one another to produce the highest return on investment possible. The program simulates a real company allowing participants to experiment (and potentially fail) with managing projects, people and money in order to give them the experience they need to become an industry leader and business manager. This senior-level immersion experience was built around four core themes: developing and maintaining profitable, long-term business success, evaluating and mitigating enterprise risks, understanding and mastering financial control of construction projects, and bidding, negotiating and managing projects to maximize profits. At the end of the week, the teams present their business results and compete for investor dollars, much like Shark Tank. Beverly and her teammate, Bryan Erickson, Division Manager at Fenton Rigging and Contracting in Cincinnati, OH, came in first place out of the six executive teams that participated in the competition.
